The Matcha Maiden

Do you feel like you are doing what you are passionate about? Are you loving what you do? We know that a lot of people are on the treadmill of life and are stuck doing stuff they feel they 'should' be doing.

Sarah Holloway decided that being a highly paid lawyer, working overseas, was not all that you would think it was supposed to be. She enjoyed several years building strong professional foundations and invaluable business acumen, but she found it increasingly challenging to reconcile the all-consuming corporate lifestyle with her personal passions for health, wellbeing, creativity and adventure.

"I got straight into a big commercial law firm straight out of uni, which was a dream. I spent three years gaining invaluable experience and even got to work in Hong Kong for half a year in global head office. But my creative side wasn’t getting any attention.

I had some health issues, inflamed by coffee consumption, so I tried a gentler source of caffeine, match green tea, and love love loved its many wellness promoting qualities. I wanted more but ceremonial grade matcha was too expensive for daily use and required special tools to prepare. Ingredient grade was low quality and often diluted by sweeteners. My partner and I saw a gap in the market. So we jumped in and Match Maiden was born!

Matcha Maiden is the embodiment of our desire to unite respect for matcha’s traditional roots with affordability, accessibility and ease of use."

Matcha Maiden is all about spreading the magic of matcha green tea powder and bringing this ancient nutritional powerhouse into the contemporary wellness spotlight. Matcha tea is simply green tea leaves ground into a fine powder giving up to 10x the nutritional value of regular green tea and a more versatile, convenient form.

Despite its recent revival, matcha has been around for centuries as part of the traditional Japanese green tea ceremony. Zen Buddhist monks have been reaping its many benefits for energy, concentration and wellness since long before the modern day “teatox”. Legendary Buddhist Monk, Eisai, hailed green tea as a precious medicine for health and long life. It sounds like a complicated “buzz word”, but matcha is surprisingly simple – it is pure green tea leaves stone ground into a fine powder.

Its amazing stuff!!

So successful were Sarah and Nic that they opened a cafe in Melbourne called Matcha Mylkbar, boasting a world-first innovative plant-based menu.

Sarah and Nic have managed to build not just an amazing brand that's kicking ass everywhere it goes but compliments this with a strong community of like minded people.

"Our vision goes well beyond the powder itself – Matcha Maiden is driven by our other passion for creating a community of like-minded health nuts. Matcha Maiden started as a humble side project and we have only been able to evolve into a bustling growing global gang (of 1500+ stockists and 300K+ followers) through a strong sense of community and a family business philosophy. We are eternally grateful to our matcha mates around the world for bringing our matcha mission to life."

Pretty good for a company that is 2 years old!

Sarah Holloway will grace the shores of Fiji this October at the 2018 Nurture Her Business Retreat and will speak about becoming who you really are.
